Hills Burnside Memorial Park
Nestled in the heart of Markdale, Ontario, the Hillis Burnside Memorial Park is a vibrant community space with a rich history. Once the site of two devastating fires in 1941 and again fifty years later, the area has been beautifully reimagined into a welcoming public park. Donated to the municipality in 2004, the space recently received a thoughtful upgrade unveiled on a sunny June 7. Now featuring steel posts, retractable awnings, wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, benches, and low-maintenance artificial grass, the park is designed for comfort and accessibility. Tucked between The Hair Shop and Speaking Volumes Books and Audio, it’s a charming, three-season hub perfect for pop-up markets and local gatherings. Hillis Burnside Memorial Park is a testament to resilience and community spirit.
